Windows XP is an operating system released by Microsoft Corporation and is being used by most of the users these days. This operating system is very much user friendly and easy to use for people and hence most of the users use this operating system only. The windows operating system contains a registry which keeps the entries of all the software programs installed in it. This makes the operating system aware of the presence of the software and it allocates some of the computer’s memory to the registered application accordingly. But sometimes Windows XP registry is a main cause for system slowness.

When an application program is uninstalled from the computer, its registry entry is removed from the Windows XP registry automatically. Sometimes, it happens that the application is removed from the computer but its entries remain in the registry and is not removed from there. This means the OS keeps on allocating memory for that particular application which has already been approved. This slows down the computer and the computer takes more amount of time to complete a particular task. Also the performance of the computer is declined to a great extent.

As the number of broken or damaged entries in the registries grows, more amount of the computer’s memory is used up unnecessarily and hence the computer becomes slower as more amount of memory of the system is being wasted. To solve this problem, there are various registry cleaning tools of programs available on the internet can perform Windows XP registry repair very easily with the help of just a few mouse clicks. This tool deletes all the unwanted or damaged registry entries and frees the system’s memory from them. As a result of this, the operating system is able to allocate the freed memory to other applications and they require less amount of time to complete their task. This speeds up the system to a great extent.

May 31st, 2010No comments »

The importance of fixing Windows 7 registry errors cannot be overstated. Since your system interfaces with the registry incessantly, Windows 7 registry errors can afflict different processes with errors. If any problems occur within the registry, it’s important to resolve them quickly.

Backing up the Registry with System Restore

One of the best ways to maintain a clean registry is to consistently back up your registry. You can do this by using System Restore. Here’s how to backup your registry:

1. Click Start.
2. Open System Tools.
3. Click System Restore.
4. If you have NOT previously utilized System Restore, then click “Next.” If you HAVE previously used this function, then check the dot next to “Choose a different restore point.”
5. In the following menu, enter or select your desired restore point.
6. Click Next.
7. Click Finish.

You will need to confirm that you wish to restore the system. Your computer will automatically restart in order to accomplish the system restore. Once your computer has started up, you will notice that all settings and processes have been restored to your selected restore point.

Making a Backup with Regedit

If you are encountering registry problems, then System Restore can work as a quick fix. You can also backup your registry another way. Here’s how:

1. Click Start.
2. Type “regedit” in the Search box.
3. In the top menu bar, select “File.”
4. Click “Export.”
5. Then, choose the destination location for the backup files. Make sure you click the “All” option within the Export Range option.
6. Click “Save.”

This action will backup your registry to a specified location. This is a great way to safely maintain your registry.

You can restore or backup the Registry using advanced methods such as forming.reg files or importing files from regedit. These methods are a bit harder and require meticulous attention to detail.

Use a Registry Cleaner for a Thorough Fix

One of the simplest ways to repair your registry is by downloading a registry cleaner. A registry cleaner is designed to evaluate your registry and resolve pending issues.

Also, using a registry cleaner will lessen the need for using System Restore. Restoring your system too many times can often elicit confusion since it’s hard to keep track of the exact time you modified any attribute of your system. Necessary Tips and Trick on Doing Windows XP Software Repair

May 31st, 20109 comments »

Want to do Windows XP software repair? Well, you can always boot your PC using the XP cd and repair the system partition. However, it may or may not solve the problem depending on the nature of the issue. If you can still boot to Windows, there are a few things you can try before using the XP CD to repair Windows. I am going to talk about those here. If in the unfortunate event that your Windows cannot even boot, I will also give you some tips on doing Windows XP software repair with that method.

If you are able to boot your Windows, you can do Windows XP software repair by first making sure any spyware, viruses or Trojan horses are removed. You can use free tools such as Windows Defender, AVG or Avast antivirus to scan and clean up your system. You can also do Windows XP software repair by repairing your Windows registry. Repairing Windows registry is known to remove errors and improve performance of Windows XP.

If your Windows cannot boot, make sure that it is not due to hardware failure. A few hardware problems can cause the system to be unable to boot. RAM (memory), motherboard or hard disk failure are the common causes. If your hardware is faulty, you will not even be able to boot using the XP CD.

If you can boot using XP CD, doing Windows XP software repair is very straight forward. However, there are a few things you should know before doing Windows XP software repair using XP CD:

1. The XP repair process should retain your personal data.

2. If you are using a SCSI or SATA hard disk, you need the driver for it in a floppy disk format. Things can get a little tricky if you do not have the driver in floppy disk or you have no floppy drive at all. An alternative will be to create an XP CD that is integrated with the SATA/SCSI driver. You can do so with a great and free tool known as nLite. Do a search on Google and read documentations on it for detailed instructions.

3. Make sure that your PC’s BIOS is set to boot using CD first before using your hard disk to boot. Most BIOS now come with a boot menu that you can call out by pressing some function keys. For Dell PCs, I think it’s F12 when the PC is powered on. From the menu, you can select to boot from CD/DVD Drive. If there is no menu for you to call out, enter the BIOS and set the boot priority for your CD/DVD drive to be higher than your hard disk. Usually, the DEL key or the F1 key is used to enter BIOS when the computer starts.

4. After you have done Windows XP software repair, the XP updates that you have installed will be removed. All drivers will be reverted to the original XP versions in the CD. You may have to reactivate your XP as well. It is important to note that you cannot repair an XP Pro with XP Home CD. You can however repair an XP Pro with newer versions of XP Pro. For example, repairing XP SP1 with XP SP2 CD.

Window Repair Or Replacement? Get Answers Here!

May 31st, 2010No comments »

Most homeowners are unfamiliar with the wide variety and types of windows that exist in homes today. The type of window you have in your home will depend almost entirely on how old your home is and what types of material the builder used when building the home. You would think that making the decision as to whether to repair or replace a window would be simple and straightforward. But, it is not.

In order to decide which direction to take with a window that is in need of repair, it is essential to compare costs and consider your options. The best way to do this is by consulting a professional who is familiar with all types of windows and window repairs. You may be surprised to learn that a window repair company can often fix your window for a fraction of the cost of replacing it.

There are different types of problems that can occur with different types of windows. For example, many homeowners encounter the problem of having a double paned window that has a broken seal. As a result, the window is cloudy and besides not being able to see out of it, it is unattractive. Most homeowners assume that the only way to deal with this problem is to replace the window. They also assume it will be costly and therefore put the decision off as long as possible. But is this really true?

Taking the time to call in a professional window repair professional can help you find the answers you need and you may find out in fact, that things are not as bad as you expected. Â Window repair professionals know how to fix many problems with windows that the homeowner does not. Some double paned windows can be repaired and do not have to be replaced.

When looking for a window repair company it is important to look for one that actually does repair existing windows and not just a company that replaces windows. It is not always to tell at first, so if necessary ask them if they do repair windows. You want to be in a position to make the most economical decision, not just automatically replace the window if it can be fixed for less.

Of course, there are times when it only makes sense to replace a window. If your house is old and not well insulated it may be financially more sensible to replace old drafty windows with new air tight ones. This can have a significant impact on your power bill each month.

But there are many more cases where the repair of an existing window is much cheaper, even in the long run, than replacing the window. We are all watching our expenses these days and this is one place where with the right guidance you can save money by calling a window repair service company.

Once you have talked to a professional about your particular windows you will have a much better idea as to what your options really are. You will know the cost of repairing the existing window and can compare it to the cost of replacing it. Remember that when replacing a window that in addition to the cost of the window itself, there will be the added expense of the installation itself. Â Nothing can help you make this decision more easily than knowing your options.  You can see more detailed information here!
